Live chat integration for Flutter apps.

A support chat is only useful if the right conversation reaches the right person with the right context. That means authenticated identities, order or booking data attached to the thread, push notifications, and a clean handoff from bot to human.

01 · CHOOSE

Pick the helpdesk before the widget

LiveChat is strong on web chat, but mobile SDK coverage varies. Intercom, Freshchat, Zendesk and Crisp have more mature mobile options, and some teams already run one of them for email and WhatsApp support.

The right decision depends on where your agents work, which channels you need, data residency and budget — not on which SDK is easiest to embed.

02 · IDENTITY

Signed-in users, not anonymous strangers

Chat gets useful when the agent can see who they are talking to: name, email, plan, recent order or booking. Providers support identity verification through a signed token or user hash so the app cannot impersonate another customer.

Attach only the context the agent needs, and collect consent where the privacy policy requires it.

03 · BUILD

SDKs, deep links and attachments

A native SDK is preferable; a WebView is a fallback where the provider has no Flutter package. Either way the chat needs an unread badge, a deep link to the conversation, attachment handling and a sane offline state.

Push notifications are the difference between a chat that works and one customers forget to reopen.

04 · HANDOFF

Bots, routing and moderation

Bots can answer order-status questions and collect the first details, but a human handoff needs to preserve the transcript and context. Routing rules, business hours, canned replies and assignment all live in the helpdesk.

Abuse handling — blocking, rate limits and retention — is part of shipping chat, not an afterthought.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Working together

Does LiveChat have a Flutter SDK?

LiveChat is web-first and its mobile options are more limited than Intercom or Freshchat. If LiveChat is already your helpdesk, I will use its supported mobile or API route where it fits; otherwise I will recommend a provider with a proper Flutter SDK rather than force a WebView into the app.

Can chat work without login?

Yes, but authenticated chat is better: history, identity and order context all depend on it. Anonymous chat needs rate limiting, moderation and a clear privacy notice.

Will customers get push notifications for replies?

That depends on the provider and your push setup. I wire FCM/APNs or the provider's push channel, test background delivery, and make the notification open the right conversation.

Can you connect chat to WhatsApp?

Often, yes. Several helpdesks unify in-app chat, WhatsApp and email into one agent inbox. I can connect the app to that inbox and keep the customer identity consistent.
