Android TV D-Pad Navigation in Flutter
A practical guide to D-pad focus on Android TV and Fire TV with Flutter: focus maps, key events, back behaviour, player controls and a device test checklist.
Read the note ↗These are field notes from mobile, TV and backend work: the constraints that are not visible in a portfolio, the trade-offs that decide whether a feature ships, and the checks I use before a release. No invented benchmarks, no borrowed case studies.

Most app work is not a choice between a good framework and a bad one. It is a series of small decisions: how focus moves on a TV, when a video player should be released, where a call's billing state lives, and how much of an existing codebase is safe to keep.
I write these notes for the person who has to maintain the product after the launch screenshots are taken. They include code where code clarifies the point, device matrices where the device matters, and the trade-offs I would revisit in a new build.
Each note is a working explanation, not a tutorial for a framework version.
