Take over a white-label app without inheriting its problems.

A white-label app can be a fast starting point, but only if you understand what you own, what the vendor controls and what will break when you rebrand. I start with a licence, code and build audit, then make the smallest safe path to your own listing and release process.

01 · AUDIT BEFORE REBRAND

Ownership, build access and dependencies decide what is possible

The first questions are not visual. Who owns the source code? What does the licence allow you to change and redistribute? Do you control the Apple and Google accounts, the backend, the domains and the third-party services? Can the app be built from source without the vendor's private environment?

I review the repository, build configuration, signing setup, backend, SDKs, analytics and store listings. The output is a written report separating what can be rebranded, what must be replaced and what needs a commercial or legal decision before engineering starts.

02 · REBRAND & RELEASE

Make it yours without breaking the parts that work

A rebrand touches more than colours and a logo: bundle identifiers, app names, icons, splash screens, onboarding, legal links, privacy text, notification keys, payment configuration and store metadata. If the vendor's backend is shared, tenancy and data isolation have to be understood before any migration.

I work in phases: audit, a runnable build, a rebranded build, a store-ready build, then deployment and maintenance. Each phase has a clear exit condition, so you can stop if the audit shows the product cannot be safely taken over.

03 · HONEST POSITION

No invented case study, just the takeover process

I have inherited codebases and release pipelines and worked through the unglamorous parts: missing credentials, stale dependencies, undocumented builds and store accounts that were not where the client thought. I will not claim a named white-label case study that I cannot show you. The audit process and the relevant app experience are the honest proof.

If you need a product that is genuinely differentiated, a white-label base may still be useful, but it will not do the product work for you. I will say that before you spend money on a rebrand that cannot carry the differentiation.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Working together

Can you take over a white-label app from another vendor?

Yes, starting with a licence, code and build audit. I need to confirm that you have the right to modify and deploy the code, and that the app can be built independently of the vendor. If either answer is unclear, that is the first thing to resolve.

Do I own the code?

That depends on your agreement with the white-label vendor, not on the fact that you paid for the app. The audit checks the licence, source access and redistribution rights before any rebrand work.

Can you just change the logo and colours?

Sometimes. But a store-ready rebrand also needs bundle identifiers, signing, privacy text, notification keys, legal links and often backend configuration. A visual-only change can leave the app unshippable or tied to the vendor's accounts.

What if the vendor will not hand over the source or accounts?

Then the takeover is blocked at the commercial level. I can help you document what is missing and what a clean replacement would require, but I will not pretend a technical workaround is a substitute for ownership.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes. I can sign an NDA before reviewing the repository, store accounts or vendor agreement.

How long does a white-label takeover take?

The audit is the first milestone. Rebrand and release work depends on the state of the code and the accounts. I give a range after the audit, not before I have seen the build.
